The Andringitra National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a popular highland destination in Madagascar, featuring stunning landscapes with elevations ranging from 700m to 2658m. Its second highest and most accessible peak is a striking granite and gneiss formation.
Located 47 km southeast of Ambalavao, this park covers an area of 31,160 hectares. With its great biological diversity due to its altitudinal zonation, an extraordinary adventure awaits you, offering the chance to enjoy the richness that the park harbors.
Embark on an unforgettable adventure on the ‘Roof of Madagascar’ in Andringitra National Park. Explore stunning mountain landscapes, traverse deep valleys, and visit traditional Malagasy villages. Discover a diverse range of flora including terrestrial orchids, aloes, pachypodium, and rare high-altitude palms. Encounter unique reptiles and lemur species along the way. Five unique trekking routes are available to cater to your interests. *Due to recent cyclone damage, the Andreantelo bridge near Sendrisoa is currently impassable. Therefore, if you wish to trek from Namoly Valley, you will need to start your hike from where the bridge is broken.
A 2.5-hour 4×4 drive from Ambalavao to the Andreatelo bridge. Then we start the trek, crossing mountains and following the trail for about 5 hours before reaching the mountain hut.
Departure to the mountain hut to climb up to 2050m, a short climb before reaching the park entrance, then a 2.6 km ascent through the secondary forest, with views of the two sacred waterfalls and a panoramic view.
Once you reach an altitude of 2000m, Malagasy dishes await you for about 4km before arriving at the third campsite, Andreampotsy (base camp).

The ascent is hard, long and intermittent, many stairs, the temperature changes abruptly. 9 km round trip for 4 and a half hours of walking from the base camp at Andreampotsy. Lunch at the base camp (Andreampotsy). After that, continue the trek through vast plateaus with a loss of sight before climbing and joining the magnificent and magical lunar landscape (DIAVOLANA).
Rocks, exceptional plants, tranquility and calm will be at the rendezvous. Then a big descent with stairs before arriving at Iantaranomby on the western slope of the park. 10 km of walking including 7.5 km on the plain and the lunar landscape then a big descent of 2.3km before arriving at the Iantaranomby campsite.

Following breakfast, we’ll descend, enjoying breathtaking views of the Tsaranoro cliff and valley. After a leisurely 4-hour hike, we’ll reach the enchanting dream valley, nestled near the base of the cliff.
The trail continues for 7.6km to the village of Morarano, where our journey will continue to a new destination.
After breakfast at the Tsarasoa hotel, we’ll depart on foot to climb the Dondy peak pass, the 3rd highest summit after Boby and Bory, passing through the village of Andasy. Small rock formations, endemic plants, and panoramic views await. It will be a long day as the ascent will take 3 and a half hours to reach the pass.
Then a descent awaits us to reach the village of Mahasoa. After lunch, we’ll continue our journey through the village of Antanifotsy, the only village visible on the map before arriving at the mountain hut.

After breakfast, we’ll continue our descent, enjoying stunning views of the Tsaranoro cliff and valley. It’s a relaxed day as after 5 hours of walking, we’ll arrive in the dream valley (near the Tsaranoro cliff). 7.6km from Iantaranomby to reach the village of Morarano and another 2km to return to the Tsarasoa hotel.
